Service Account Impact Scanner
Know the impact before you rotate. Proposed dependency mapping from imported scans; video uses synthetic example data.
This is currently a concept, not downloadable software.
The proposal
The problem
A familiar source of friction.
Before rotating, migrating or retiring a Windows service account, administrators may not know which configured workloads depend on that identity. A read-only impact assessment could help them understand those dependencies before making a credential change through their organization’s normal administrative process.
The proposed solution
A focused way forward.
A proposed utility would aggregate imported scan results, let you select a service account, group configured dependencies by server and export the impact view. The scope is limited to exactly three workload categories: Windows Services, Scheduled Tasks and IIS Application Pools. Proposed workflow: Import Scans → Select Account → View Impact → Export. Read-only impact mapping. No configuration changes. The concept would not rotate passwords, retrieve or store credentials, modify Services, Scheduled Tasks, IIS or Active Directory, or perform remediation. It would not automatically discover an enterprise network or provide exhaustive dependency discovery. The ConceptForge video uses synthetic example data only and visualizes a proposed workflow; no functional prototype or commercial product exists.
Concept capabilities
What this idea could help with.
- Map configured Windows Services from imported scan results
- Map configured Scheduled Tasks from imported scan results
- Map configured IIS Application Pools from imported scan results
- Aggregate imported scans and select a service account
- Group configured dependencies by server and distinguish the three workload categories
- Export the impact view without making configuration changes
